Dr. John York
Called to ministry while a student at Columbia Christian College in Portland, Oregon, John is passionate about the contemporary church’s call to be the embodied Christ in the world. His longing to live out “loving God and loving others” as announcement of the Kingdom of God drives his ministry in both church and university settings.
Throughout his career, John has sought to integrate ministry in church and academy. Thus, there is constant overlap in his teaching experience and his church experience (now 27 years of work in each). John currently serves as an Associate Dean of the College of Bible and Ministry and directs the Doctor of Ministry Degree in Missional and Spiritual Formation for Hazelip School of Theology where he teaches graduate classes in the masters and doctoral programs.
John is blessed to be married to Anne, whom he first met at Columbia Christian College. They celebrated their 42nd wedding anniversary this year. They have two adult sons; Matt and his wife Steph have two children, Will and Paisley. Brad and his wife Jenn have a daughter, Elizabeth.
Christine Fox Parker, MA, MACM
Christine began her journey in ministry the summer before her freshman year of college when called to teach teens at summer camps in California. The next decades would take her places she never imagined including Zagreb, Croatia, Memphis, TN, and Parkersburg, WV where she leaned into loving whomever God brought across her path.
Of herself, Christine says, “I love to laugh and enjoy life to its fullest. I love long and hard.” This passion for people and life combined with years of education and experience combine in Christine in a way that draws people to her in their joys, their sorrows, and in the everyday goings on of life.
Christine and her husband Jeff have four kids and two kid-in-laws between them. They love and adore them all.
Christine says, “I met God when I was four years old and have loved God ever since. We have not always liked each other very much, but the love affair I experience with God never ceases to amaze me.”

WE church shepherds lead West End first by being led themselves by the Holy Spirit. Faithful sojourners, each knows the depths of suffering and the joys standing in the Kingdom. Radically hospitable themselves, they invite each person they guide into holy relationships which seek to embrace God’s desires for God’s people and land at the corner of West End Avenue and Bowling.
